Major Crash Leads To I-66 Exit, Lane Closures In Prince William County (Developing)

A major crash in Prince William County shut down a stretch of a busy highway in Gainesville on Tuesday afternoon ahead of the afternoon commute.

First responders from the police department were called to investigate a crash on University Boulevard near Lee Highway at around 2 p.m., resulting in multiple lane closures following the crash.

According to the Prince William County Police Department, University Boulevard between the I-66 express exit and Lee Highway were closed to motorists.

Details of the crash were not made available by the police, and the extent of any injuries sustained by the drivers or passengers involved was unavailable as of 2:45 p.m. on Oct. 1.
